Today was the only "free" day of the tour with no planned stops or sites to see. Some people spent the day golfing, while the rest headed into Dingle for the day to explore, shop, and take pictures. Paddy dropped us off around 10:15 am on the pier in Dingle. Dad and I were on a mission to connect with an EMT to ask for a t-shirt for Tyler. We looked on the map and found what the Irish call a "Medical Center" which was really just a small house that resembled a family doctor's office and off we went! When we found the Medical Center, we talked with a woman who appeared to be the receptionist and she flagged down a young man named Joe Lynch in his early to mid-thirties or so. We started off with, "we have an unusual request..." and explained what Tyler wanted us to do. He told us he understood; that "all EMT's do this!" He went on to tell us that in Ireland, they don't have "t-shirts" per se; instead, they have emblems sewn into their shirts. He immediately told us he had one he had cut off a shirt at his house tucked into a book and gave us directions to his house. I asked him if he would let Chris take a picture of him and me and he put his arm around my shoulder, pulled me close, and said, "I'll need to behave myself and not be giving you a kiss!" and Chris snapped the picture with my reaction!
Chris and I set off to find the "First Cottage B&B" that Joe and his wife Julie run out of their house right next to the pier in Dingle. Jane knew exactly where to look and showed us two emblems (one older and one more recent). We chose the more recent one and asked for their business card (so Tyler can mail Joe an Essex Rescue shirt...) and headed off!
So here it is, Tyler... safely tucked away on a carry-on bag.
